How To Not Give Up On Yourself and Stay Motivated

Woman not giving up on herself

Hey Boss Girl, feeling like giving up? Are you thinking about quitting? Please don’t, and I am going to tell you why and how not to.

I want you to get those “my life sucks” and “I am so tired of it all” thoughts out of your head. I want you to say, “Eff this, I have a whole life ahead of me, and I got this!” The art of giving up is so easy while the process of working hard and trudging through your journey can be so difficult. You can feel like your life will never get better no matter what you do, and you can’t see even a glimmer of hope in sight. It can feel like your dreams, goals, and aspirations are so far off or that they will never happen and you want to wave the white flag and say the hell with it. However, the caveat to this type of response is detrimental. If you do this and stay in that mindset, you will end up doing things like this…

  • Continuing to live a mediocre life
  • Staying with that loser knowing you need to leave the relationship
  • Escaping with drugs or alcohol
  • Becoming lazy and unproductive too many times
  • Sinking in and out of depression
  • Harming yourself, and your body

Alternatively, even worse, sometimes people feel like life isn’t worth living anymore, and this is perturbing. The suicide rate has grown tremendously in the past years, which proves that unfortunately, more and more people are using suicide as their only way out. Life is hard, but I hope that you will never feel that your situation is hopeless. If you ever perceived that you are worthless and believe in your heart that you can’t go on living, please talk to someone immediately.

Life is precious, and we only get one, and we should live it to the best of our ability the best we can. We should cherish each moment of our lives while graciously living in the present. I believe that many of our problems are because we are distorting our thoughts by making mountains out of molehills. We have to belive that this too shall pass. Know that at times, you will go through moments of uncertainty and times of light or heavy, depressing moments.

You may feel a lack of motivation or wonder where did you go wrong? Many times you don’t even realize that your feelings can be telling you a different story that may not be even true. You must ask yourself, are these feelings telling you an accurate picture of the situation at hand? It all depends on how you look at it, meaning your perception of the matter.

I remember, at one point in my life, I felt like my life sucked! My weekends consisted of binging streaming shows and lounging on my sofa weekend after weekend. I wasn’t doing anything productive. After a while, I thought to myself, I’m so smart, and I’m ambitious, so why I’m acting like someone I’m not? I was going through a rough patch maybe just like yourself. ALL of us go through them, but the plan is not to stay stuck and to not feel like shit-well at least not for long periods. These “giving up” feelings aren’t easy to get over, and you should really work through them to overcome them. It would help if you tried to muster up your strength to not give it up. See below on how you can do that.

Tips on How to Not to Give Up on Yourself & Stay Motivated:

Choose Love for Yourself:
When you choose to love, you are saying to yourself that you love yourself enough to change your life, let go of fear, and to keep trying. Change your thinking towards more love for yourself. Practice self-care and love your body. Tell yourself that you love yourself every day, all day. When you love, yourself, you can get rid of those “giving up on yourself” feelings and take on the world!

Stop Negative Thinking and use Positive Self-Talk:

Negative thinking can destroy you. If you keep thinking about what’s wrong with you or what you don’t have or comparing yourself to others, you will NEVER get ahead in life. You won’t ever get out of that hole. You also must know that it’s not as bad as you think, and it’s your mindset that can keep you wedged in a mess. Look at what’s great about you, see the rainbow up ahead and use positive self-talk by telling yourself you are enough and your life matters.

Know That You have a Purpose in this Lifetime:

Think you were put on this earth for naught? For nada, for zilch just to merely exist? Girl Bye. You were created with a purpose, and even though sometimes we go through difficult times in our lives knowing your dreams, your destiny can aid you in fighting for what’s naturally yours. There is a reason you are here, and you better not miss it. You have a purpose!

Look ahead for great things in your life: Stop thinking about what was and start focusing on you and what could be! Look to the future at what great plans God has for you and what plans you have for yourself. When you forget, the past and look towards the future, everything looks bright. When you get focused, it makes you feel good, which in turn helps you to keep going.

Don’t give up love. You weren’t designed to give up on yourself. You deserve all that life should offer, and your belief in yourself will carry you through your downtrodden times. Think positive, exhibit courage, be fearless, and grab life by the lemons and believe that you will prevail over misfortunes and setbacks by believing and pushing through. Your life is yours for the taking! The world is rooting for you, but more importantly than that is that you must be your biggest cheerleader. You must be rooting for yourself, and I promise, one day you will thank yourself for not giving up.

Last. I want to leave you with this:

“Everything always works itself out. Always.”
Ty B.

So funny, today I burned my dinner and said, “omg I hate my life!” Then I thought hmmm, that was a bit dramatic. Such a negative thing to say about myself. And then poof, here is your article. This was very much so needed today.
