Happiness is a multitude of pleasant feelings. It’s when you feel joy and bliss and contentment in the life you are living right now. It’s a beautiful feeling, and we all strive for happiness all the time. I mean it’s the only way to live, right? So, this is a goal that we have every day, all day, and every time. However, you must know that happiness isn’t something that is given to us because we decide to be happy or not. We can choose to be happy even if we are sad, even if we are lacking or if things are going horribly for us, but at the end of the day, happiness will always be our choice.
Many times we fail to realize how good we really are. We think that maybe if we had this, we would be good. Alternatively, perhaps if we had that, it would be great! No, you are great right now. If you keep thinking that until I lose weight, I will be satisfied or until I get my dream job, I will be happy or until I meet the love of my life or have a child, I most certainly will be happy. No! Happiness must be an internal thing. You must decide for yourself that even if you don’t have those things, you are still the bomb and you will always love yourself unconditionally.

How to be happy right now:
- Accept yourself
Say to yourself, “you know what, I accept myself. I like myself, and I respect myself no matter where I am in my life. I accept all my flaws, good traits and bad, my issues, and my good points and bad points. Accept your body, your financial status, your relationship status, and your career status. Accept every darn thing about you. When you know who you are and accept yourself and say the hell with everything else you gain a vicious power within yourself that will help you to be happy with who you are no matter where you are in your life or your current status whatever that may be. This is power honey when you accept yourself.
- Stop focusing on what you don’t have and be happy with what you do have
Especially as women, we may think I am not married, yet so I failed, or my friends have children, and I don’t so I am not woman enough, or I don’t have a college degree, so I am not smart enough. I don’t live on my own so that I can be happy or I am not in my career yet so how could be happy? No love, you don’t need any of those things to feel content. You are already of value even if you don’t have the items you want. For example, I want a successful blog and just because I feel that I have just begun blogging, and I don’t have many readers yet doesn’t mean that I won’t be happy. I am going to choose to be happy and keep pushing out content believing that one day, my blog will help transform lives.
- Do NOT compare yourself to others.
Who are you comparing yourself to, girlfriend? Your bestie, who is engaged? Your best girl of 10 years who has her career together? Your cousin, who is married with two children and a dog? Otherwise, your coworker who travels to dang near everywhere on the planet and has the funds to do so? Do not compare yourself to others because this will be a losing fight with yourself. Everyone is different and at different stages in their lives. You must run your own race and stay in your lane and can’t concentrate on someone else’s lane because think about it. What can these people do for your life? Nada! So, if you concentrate on yourself and take the necessary steps to achieve the life you want that is all that matters. Focus on you, and you will be happy!
- Count your Blessings!
There are so many things that you can be grateful for right now. How about the roof over your head even if you don’t live on your own? How about the old beat up car you drive that can get you from point A to point B; what about the food on your table or the food in your cabinets? What about your health? Do you realize how many people are sick in this world and might be dying? You better jump up and down and be happy that you are healthy. Be grateful girl!
Your feelings of happiness are not missing. They are hidden, and all you need to do is pull them out from within. Commit to yourself daily and only look at your very self for joy. Be very thankful for the life that you have Ms. because the only person who can make you happy is you. Continue to strive for your dreams and work on your goals and be content with your current life. Be appreciative for all your blessings so the radiant energy will flow through your spirit, which makes you feel alive. Remember your happily ever after begins with you, right where you are today and right now.
